Tale Spinning is operated by The Mighty Dutch LLC, doing business as Tale Spinning, run by Thijs Bazelmans in California, USA. By using this site, creating an account, or purchasing a course, you agree to these terms. They’re written in plain language on purpose; the plain meaning is the intended one.

The service

Tale Spinning offers online storytelling courses, read directly on this site, with downloadable worksheets (PDF), plus a free email newsletter. Some courses are free, some are paid.

Your account

Your email address is your account. There are no passwords: you sign in with a one-time email link or with Google. Keep your email address accurate — it’s how your courses find you. An account belongs to one person; see the license below for what that means.

Purchases, pricing, and delivery

Prices are listed in US dollars. Payment is processed by Stripe on their hosted checkout page; this site never sees your card details. Paid courses are delivered instantly — the course appears in your account the moment payment completes, and you get a confirmation email with a sign-in link.

Refunds and the EU right of withdrawal

Courses are digital content, delivered instantly. At checkout you expressly consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that this waives the 14-day EU/EEA right of withdrawal — all sales are final. That consent is recorded with your payment.

If something goes genuinely wrong with a purchase — you were charged twice, the course never landed, that kind of thing — email [email protected] and it will be made right.

Your license

A course purchase (or free enrollment) grants you a personal, single-reader, non-transferable license: one person reads the course, on any of their devices, for as long as Tale Spinning operates, including every future revision of that course.

It is not a site license and not a lending copy. Don’t share your login, redistribute the course text or worksheets, republish the material, or use it to build a competing course. If you bought a course as a gift, the license belongs to the recipient. If you want to use the material in a classroom or team setting, email me and we’ll work something out.

Intellectual property

All course content, articles, glossary entries, worksheets, and illustrations are © The Mighty Dutch LLC, dba Tale Spinning. Film titles, quotes, and stills are referenced for the purpose of commentary and education, with attribution to their writers and directors; those works belong to their respective rights holders.

Acceptable use

Don’t attempt to circumvent content gating, scrape the courses, hammer the site with automated traffic, or abuse the login system. I can suspend accounts that do, and for serious abuse, terminate them.

The newsletter

Free, and you can unsubscribe at any moment with the link in every email. Signing up for the newsletter creates no other obligations in either direction.

Disclaimers

The courses teach a method; they don’t guarantee an outcome. No one can promise your screenplay sells. The site is provided “as is”: I work to keep it fast and available, but I can’t promise uninterrupted access, and scheduled changes or downtime may occur. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tale Spinning’s total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the course in question.

Changes and governing law

If these terms change, the new version appears here with an updated date; material changes affecting paid courses would be announced by email. Continued use of the site after a change means acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA.
